November 2, 2009

Greetings from Bradley Schools!

I would like to bring you up-to-date on a couple of different items within the district.

District Report Card. During the October Board Meeting, the Bradley School District Board of Education received a report stating that the district did not make adequate yearly progress this year in certain subgroups, including economically disadvantaged and Special Education.

This is the first year that we did not make AYP in the past three years but changes have been made in hopes of increasing district test scores this year. We started an all-day Kindergarten program, added special education staff, implemented a district-wide breakfast program and this is the first year for our curriculum committee which will review all areas of our curriculum for this year. We are excited as a district to start the full day kindergarten program. This program has been discussed for many years within the district and we are glad to be able to provide it for our families. You can find district report card information on our website under the board of education tab on the right side of website.

Bradley East Parking Project. The Bradley East parking lot project is being delayed due to the raining weather we have been experiencing during the month of October. It has been the rainiest October that I can remember. The overall project is set to be completed by the end of this week. On September 28, 2009, the Village of Bradley approved Ordinance O-9-09-6 in designating the alley between the 300 block of South Fulton and Bradley East School a "one-way" alley. This is designated as a one-way northbound from Erie to Liberty Street between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Two-way traffic shall be allowed on the alley on Saturday and Sundays.

Grandparents Breakfast Day. The grandparents are slated for the week of November 16. Bradley East will have their breakfast on Tuesday, November 17, Bradley West on Wednesday, November 18 and Bradley Central on Thursday, November 19. We encourage grandparents all of Bradley Elementary students to come and visit the schools during these mornings. You are an important part to your grandchild's education.

Thank you for your continued support of Bradley Schools . Please feel free to contact me at the Administrative Office or by e-mail at  sgoselin@bradleyschools.com .

Sincerely,
